About NC Paycheck Calculator
An independent, free website that works out North Carolina paychecks with the IRS’s and the NC Department of Revenue’s own published methods.
North Carolina Paycheck Calculator works out what is left of a paycheck in North Carolina after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and North Carolina income tax. Type your pay, how often you are paid and what your W-4 and NC-4 say, and the answer appears as you type, line by line, as a pay stub.
How the answers are made
Every calculator follows the methods employers’ payroll systems use: the IRS’s Publication 15-T for federal income tax, the Social Security and Medicare rates in Publication 15, and the North Carolina Department of Revenue’s Form NC-30 for state withholding. Our server and your browser run the same rules, and we test the two against each other, against NCDOR’s own Form NC-30 example and against paychecks worked out by hand from those documents. Every rate on the site links to the official document it comes from. More on how the calculators work.
Independent
This is not a government website. It is not run by the State of North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Revenue, the IRS or any other government agency, and has no link with them. It is not a payroll company and sells nothing: no payroll service, tax software, loan or advice. No employer, bank or tax firm pays us or chooses what we publish.
Who we are
North Carolina Paycheck Calculator is published by PVV Media Technologies, 102 N 2nd Avenue E, Newton, IA 50208, United States. It is free to use and carries no advertising.
What we ask you to remember
The answers are estimates of what an employer withholds, worked out from the published rules and what you type. Your own paycheck can differ by a dollar or two where your employer rounds differently or uses the IRS’s or NC’s printed tables instead of the exact method, and by more if you have deductions you did not enter. The site is not tax, legal or financial advice.
